RUN-A-MUCCA ENTERTAINMENT HIGHLIGHT OF MEMORIAL WEEKEND

May 25, 2010

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—There’s no doubt about it: Winnemucca will rock during Run-A-Mucca 2010.
Run-A-Mucca 2010 is scheduled from Friday, May 28, through Sunday, May 30, and participants can expect everything from a poker run and walk, a bike show, memorial service and the now-famous “Burning Bike” spectacular to free entertainment from three great rock bands.
“Bad Intent” will get things started Friday. The Reno-based band includes founder Rick Medina on guitar and keyboards, James Anthony on drums and lead vocals, Shaun Damon as lead guitarist and entertainment veteran Joe Kukler on bass and lead vocals.
The group’s versatility on stage is truly amazing, allowing them to play everything from classic rock favorites from CCR, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin to the latest from Nickelback and a few surprises thrown in for good measure.
Bad Intent will kick things off beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, May 28, on the outdoor stage at the Winners Hotel and Casino. The group will continue to perform at 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, May 29, Bad Intent will take the stage at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Saturday night, “Desert Outlaws” will get things rocking from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., also on the outdoor stage at Winners. The six-member Las Vegas cover band performs country and southern-rock hits like "What Might Have Been" (Little Texas) and "Ramblin' Man" (The Allman Brothers).
With Vince Whitney on lead vocals, Rick Foell on vocals and guitars, Jennifer Towne on vocals, Aaron Archer on lead guitar, Patrick Puffer on vocals and lead guitar, Nelson Whitehead on bass and vocals and Kevin “KD” Diaz on drums and grooves, the band has been likened to Lynyrd Skynrd, Brooks and Dunn, the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, the Doobie Brothers and Trace Adkins all rolled into one.
Then on Sunday, May 30, “Breakdown: The Tom Petty Experience” will top off the weekend from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the stage outdoors at the Model T.
According to the Tom Petty Tribute website, the band “is simply the finest tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on the planet.”
“The look and stage presence of Tom is incredibly re-created by Breakdown. Be ready to feel as if you’ve been whisked away to the Tom of the ‘70s and ‘80s and all the way to the present.”
“Breakdown” will deliver all the energy and excitement of Tom Petty Live. The four seasoned performers have over 75 combined years in the music industry and have been playing professionally together in this and other tribute shows since the 1990s.
Collectively they bring a recreation of the Tom Petty experience rivaled only by Tom himself. Local guests will enjoy all the look and feel of Tom Petty presented by top industry professionals.
Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Darrel Field said this year’s bands will create one incredible weekend for Run-A-Mucca rockers.
“Our Run-A-Mucca guests will love these bands, but so will our local community. We want everyone to come out and enjoy themselves during these free concerts.”
